Heart + Paw

The + is figuring out unique solutions to project challenges without increasing costs to the client.

Taking a portion of an old iron works plant, KasCon transformed an abandoned space into a state-of-the art urban veterinary clinic with pet grooming and daycare facilities.  The clinic boasts surgery, radiology and dental areas as well as exam rooms.

Every effort was made to blend the new façade with the old for a seamless look. KasCon worked closely with the project’s developer and architects to ensure that historical guidelines were met while bringing the building into the 21st century.

One of the project’s greatest challenges was adhering to the Maryland Department of the Environment guidelines for the site.  KasCon had to bore underground in order to install 180 foot-long electrical service from Aliceanna Street to the location of the new transformer without disturbing the parking lot “cap”.
